Top restaurants in Glyfada

Introduction

I will review from my perspective the top restaurants in Glyfada today. If you are in the look out for restaurants do not hesitate to drop by at Glyfada which is located in a southern suburb of Athens in Greece. A lot of the locals go into this hotspot mainly for dinner but it has a lot of great options for lunch too. Most of the places we will talk about too today are about dinner time.

Me and my wife are restaurant lovers and one of the places we often go too is Glyfada, while there’s a great variety of restaurants there today we will focus on what we like to eat. This list is more diverse and covers different things from fast-foods to sit in restaurants.

Amigos

If you are feeling for Mexican food, I believe Amigos is the best environment and value for money that you can get in the area. The problem is that in weekends and busy hours they run out of seating so I recommend you go ahead and make a reservation before you get there to ensure you have seating. Also I’ll suggest you check them out on Tuesdays where they make Guacamole fresh in front of you.

Pasta Viva

If you are in the mood for Italian food this Pasta Viva is a very good recommendation. They tend to have smaller portions of food but the quality is up there. I would say the vibe of the restaurant is a good mix of Italian with some hints of Greek in it, especially when it comes to the cheeses. I would recommend this place mainly during the winter or fall season as the outdoor seating can be pretty hot when you sit outside. The setting is great but eating a hot pasta dishes in sweat can sometimes feel uncomfortable. Having said that I enjoy most of their dishes particularly the pomodor balsamico.

KFC

Yes for those that have fried food craving the KFC here is unlike any other. Since I’ve been to many KFC places around the world I can easily say the ones in Greece are much better than anywhere else. Only catch? They are expensive for fast food yes you heard that right, you’d be paying on average about 15 euros per person which is considered a lot especially for Greece!

For those that have spicy cravings or prefer to have more of an oriental cousine I highly recommend Indigo. I’ve personally been there several times and it has never disappointed me. The flavor they bring out in their plating is spectacular. One of my favorite dishes there is the butter chicken but anything I’ve tried is good too. If you are in the mood of eating a lot they offer a buffet on the weekends all you can eat.

Indigo

A good all around Indian restaurant, I think one of the best Indian restaurant cousins in the broader Athens area not just Glyfada. I have been here quite a few times and tried pretty much most of their dishes here, some of my favorites are the butter chicken and the chicken skewers marinated three different ways. If you want to explore the dishes more in this place I recommend coming on a weekend (Sundays) they usually offer buffets so you can do a bit of tasting on what they have to offer. Whatever you do, do not miss out on their Samosa’s it’s one of my favorite appetizers here. As a note I never had to make a reservation before but this time may get busy at certain times of the year so if you are not sure try to reserve ahead of time.

Conclusion

Glyfada has a lot of new restaurants that open every day and I may have missed some here but the ones above are some places I have personally been too several times and I still enjoy them, one important aspect of eating out for me is consistency in the quality of the dishes and those have held up pretty well. Do you know of any new better places to go too? If so please drop me a line below I’d be interested to find new hotspots. If you have been to the ones above which one do you like the best? Happy dinning!
